Evaluation

Question 1:
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
This power point answer the first question of the evaluation and provides the viewer with an insight  into the inspirations behind my short opening sequence and the various conventional features I have included in my short opening sequence, in addition to the unconventional features which I have included.

Question 2
This is a response to question 2 of my evaluation:
How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My short opening doesn't intentionally focus on particular social groups, however through the actors that I have used certain social groups could be represented. The actors which I have used (Josh Hall and Arron Kite) are young people (16-17) therefore due to the fact that they are in my short opening sequence they are being represented in different ways. For example the protagonist (Josh Hall), is represented as helpless and unable to prevent their own demise. They are clearly identifiable as  a young person due to their clothing, this could possibly signify that young people are helpless and are in constant danger. This isn't a message which I was trying to represent, however due to the fact that the protagonist is running away this could connote that they have committed a crime and have been caught. Therefore as a result of this they are running away from their pursuer, on the contrary when I was planning and filming the opening sequence I had no intention of portraying young people in any way. However due to the fact that I have used young people as actors their are many different interpretations about their roles in the play.

The antagonist also played by a young person could be representing a social group (young people), as violent and malicious. This is a classic stereotype of young people, which could be a possible interpretation. Again this is not something which I deliberately achieved, I chose this actor because of their size, which was perfect size. However I did try to represent this character as malicious and violent, due to the emphasis on the hammer and the concealment of their face when they are murdering the protagonist. The concealment of their face represents the fact that they are anonymous, connoting that anyone has the power to commit that crime.
